Beşiktaş Roof Garden
A 320 m² Bosphorus-view roof garden: 120 kg/m² lightweight system, wind break and drip irrigation.
On the roof of an existing apartment building we set a total load limit of 120 kg/m² together with the structural engineer. An 18 cm lightweight substrate of volcanic tuff and perlite was used.
Plants
Sedum, thyme, lavender, ornamental grasses and a wind-tolerant dwarf pine were chosen. In front of the parapet we placed 1.2 m glass panels and a dense planting screen.
Management
A maintenance guide was prepared for the building management; irrigation automation uses rain and wind sensors.
